Project Mission Employment was conceptualized in 2004, but came into being in the year 2008. The project kicked off with a one-year residential, activity-based training program for a batch of 30 physically challenged people in January 2008. This small community was given an in-depth training on communication and inter-personal skills and more importantly, the know-how on business management.
Vision
Mission
Employment for all.
Community development through employment.
Background of Project Mission Employment:
Our extensive research of 16 years revealed that one of the major causes of social issues is unemployment. It is evident that increase in unemployment will lead to a major unrest in the society. Minimising the unemployment rate is the key to success of any social development programs.
Current state of employment programs:
In the case of general community, shift in focus of the educational system to theory rather than practical experience created a major gap between the educational systems and employment requirements.
Regarding the deprived community, it is a good sign that there are many organisations are involved in community development and small scale income generation programs (IGP). One of the major challenges, we have observed is more than 90% of the programs did not sustain or developed sufficient income to be independent. These projects failed to achieve sufficient business acumen and sustainable models.
Our action:
Considering the above scenarios, we are proud to have launched our Project “Mission Employment” and have committed our expertise in the following areas:
For the deprived community: developing & implementing self sufficient income generation projects and providing Management support to ensure success and sustainability of the CBR and IGP Programs.
For the general community: Moulding the new generation by delivering bridge programs along with the existing educational programs and by creating access for educational systems to the dynamic business world.
Project “Mission Employment” is delivered under CSR activities of Support Links Worldwide in partnership with other socially responsible organisations and individuals.
Objectives:
Increase employment opportunities.
Increase employability.
Create a platform for employees and employers to meet each other.
Increase affordability of education.
Train the trainers.
To train the deprived communities to provide employment through entrepreneurship.
